Grow and always progress! Walking around the car showing some of what we are working with before we start diving in deep. Showing step by step how to do this mod using factory parts. To do this, I've got right at $100 in it from locating a junkyard near me and pulling the parts. Very easy and straight forward swap that can be done by anyone with a little car know how. this video is for informational purposes, showing how I did it. I hold no responsibility for you attempting and messing up panels.
Shop Updates?!?!?!

So here we are with an update to the Pontiac project as where it is right now. Travel and family stuff has taken time away from shooting, but then again, when you're just sanding to baremetal, there's not alot to update on. I will be making a video going over products used on this so far. Been trying out some new sandpaper and I really like how long its been lasting

Should I spray crystal effect on silver right away?... or after dried ???
Always wait until the ground coat is dry. Then go to next step

That's a HOSS!!! Hopefully it stays right there for a while. What's the yellow car in your shop? :)
One that's going away if the dude would ever come and get it
Smarter not harder!!!
How do you get small crystals in the painting?
Dependant on temperature and application of the mask
Hey mate, could you please tell me which led lamps did you use for 2013. I got hybrid H7 bulb halogen, wanna switch to LED, Will It need seperate kit, ?
I used LASfit.
Jeremy do you have any videos on removing the chrome pieces off the bottom of the doors on a 81 pontiac bonnneville? At first I was going to tape them off but saw some rust behind one. Not sure how to remove them and they look in great shape so I would like to re use them.
Negative. I try to stay away from.restorations in general believe it or not😂
On the 81 pontiac bonnneville I have the rain gutter trim came off easy just removed the 2 end pieces and the center piece rocked off with little to no effort.
I checked out tropical glitz they said they didn't have the crystals
I believe it was just a small run he made on it. There's some.others on the market I'm looking to revisit this video with
Brilliant
Glad it helped!
i paid $25 for this
Great info! Exactly what i need.
Glad I could help!
DEF fluid, poke it, let it dry. It etches the paint. Wash then spray black and wipe off. Clear. Done
Many different ways to skin the cat!
Thanks for your video! That helped me a lot!
Thank you. I am doing this job today for my friend.
So, is this stuff permanent? If not, what’s the process like to remove it?
Yes its permanent, just like any other 2k bedliner. For removal you can try a torch or blasting it.
Let’s Go 🎉
Love this good stuff man
Thanks! Got a couple more coming that Im working on now. Polishing video is next, hoping to have it out next week.
Hi what's up have u every tried the Cromax 7900 clear
I always followed you from ever u spoke about Sata spray gun
The original 3:1 7900 was a phenomenal clear and my alltime favorite DuPont/Axalta clear. When they reformulated it to the G2-7779 and made it a 4:1 I absolutely hated it. I have heard they brought back the original. If it's true, that's great....use the 7795 hardener. Spray it like you want it to look and walk away. 10 minutes later, do it again. SATA 3000 1.3 RP with a full trigger at 30 psi was MONEY with that clear
That rp 3000 does dump some clear I have one of the biut the nozzle piece is Cross treaded
Looks great!!! I wish I had your reach...😊
So do I lol
It comes in handy. However when tag teaming a job.....I always know what Im stuck painting everytime! ahahahahaha
Very cool trick 😎
Thanks!
Can you get the bedliner in defferent colors or is it just black
The XC they have in black and tintable
Great video...I'm taking apart a 63 Impala and was stumped as to how to remove this trim without mangling everything
Take your time. Not everything is the same!
@@inthehomeshop Trust me, taking my time hasn't been a problem. As I see it, your technique should work for the trim I've been stuck on.
I did this just now on my 66 Buick and it worked perfectly!!!! Thank you.
Boom!!!!
Thank u man
Badass bro !!
Please help. I did the repainting job same as you, sanded and used primer then painted. As soon as I put it back together and tilted the tilt head the paint started scratching at the points where the two main parts meet. Also noticing lots of peeling from moving it around etc . Seems like the paint isn’t sticking. I used a clear coat as well but didn’t seem to prevent these scratches
Sounds like you got the paint too thick on the moving parts. If it's a tilt head model, one coat of color and clear is all you need at the pilot point elsewhere you will run the risk of it doing as described. The bowl lift models are much easier for this reason
Thanks for the reply. What do u recommend I do? Is there something I can spray on to remove all the paint and redo a thinner coat. And yes I did spray a lot 😅
@esamalamad855 unfortunately you've got alot of sanding ahead of you. I highly suggest against using chemicals to remove the paint as this is used for food
Got it thanks. Any advice on what grit sandpaper to use ? And I should sand until the original color goes through?
@@esamalamad855 it depends on what you used and how thick it actually is. The thicker it is, the longer it takes to cure. Not dry, cure. Cure is different than dry. I'd sand it down to whatever you started with with 180 and re-prime
what is DA?
DA- Dual Action
ROFL, I was not expecting that ending.
Still to this day, this was the most fun video I've made. Kevin is a dear friend of mine and he encouraged it and told me to have fun. 😂
Your light throw is everywhere, it won’t be fixed until you buy TWO sided bulbs only, not cobb style.
Great video especially talking about the different spray angles and the initial light 5 minute flash coat. What do you recommend for compressor size? I have Milwaukee 2 gallon air compressor with 1.7 SCFM @ 40psi. Thank you
for any type of spraying, the minimum i always recommend is a 5hp, 60 gallon with at least 15 cfm. It will get you the bare minimum on what your basic CFM needs and storage are
@inthehomeshop great, thank you sir!
@@ericmann7945 anytime!
I use those same they work but u need pressure to paint with Satas nice job
You need volume more than pressure. Most RP or HVLP guns need 10-13 CFM, you're correct!! that requires a decent air compressor.
Appreciate man you save me
Just seen on Facebook- thank you so much for posting
Though I don't like the colour, I love the paintjob en the work you put into it. And I wonder if it is necesary to use a special kind of paint to withstand the wear and the use of these machines, like the kind of paint they use for lathes and such.
Looks great use some Spies Hecker Clear 8035.U been missing a minute good luck
When i painted this car all those years ago, it originally was done with Spies base and clear.
How did the job hold with first paint job and which clear u had used
It held great. Only reason I stripped it was because when it came to me I saw the roof was cracking. We originally thought it had been repainted once before they got it, then mine. So 3 jobs.....initial plan was to sand down the job I did years ago, prime it, and give it a refresh. A simple respray. When I started sanding to see why it was cracking it got bigger and bigger through each layer and was cracking all the way down the 15 layers we found. That's one of the pics I put in the last video. Had no choice and I told them I was going to strip it. They're parents of a LONG time friend and basically a second family to me. I couldn't let it go like that and had to fix
How do I know if my car is aligned
If your car is aligned or your headlights? You're asking on a video about aligning headlights
@@inthehomeshop sorry headlight
@@Robert-zv9tq there's several different ways to align them. As I said in the video, a simple Google search pulls up many
@@inthehomeshop alright thank you
awesome video presence man! Nice work!
Great stuff man!!
I love you thanks 🙏
That was a great video of how to do it correctly and save the trim. Thank You.👍🏻
Thanks. There's lots of ways, I just showed what I was taught and works well for me. Glad it helped!
Hey bud what is the Brand of gun you are using. It has a digital air regulator on the back of the gun.
that is a SATA 1500 1.3 RP . I put their digital gauge on it which is the ADAM 2
Absolute legend thanks as i got a 2016 as a hire car but the low beam headlights hardly go past 10m infront
Thanks mate! You just saved me from making a mistake
Kitchenaid galaxy line!
Great video , thanks for your time !

As I've said many times over, something happened in the render process and I didn't know until way later. Thanks for the comment!
